We all face challenging and overwhelming times in our lives. These include realizing we are unhappy with life as it is; the concern we will never be able to live the life we want; constant stress; feeling stuck in grief and loss; unresolved trauma; anxiety and depression. I use an eclectic, integrated approach to treatment that fits the unique needs of each client. I offer a safe, supportive environment and consider it an honor to work with clients toward achieving the changes they want to make.
I have worked in the mental health field for over twenty years, in private practice, hospital, and treatment center settings. In addition to individual and couples counseling, I have facilitated trauma resolution groups and co-facilitated weekend trauma intensives. I specialize in treating complex trauma, addiction, all forms of childhood abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, and neglect), and the way these affect current-day life and functioning.
I am passionate about using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to help clients heal from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, phobias, and other distressing life events. I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and am Certified in EMDR. I have been doing EMDR therapy since 2001. In addition to using EMDR with clients, I consult with therapists as they complete their basic EMDR training and want to develop more proficiency in practicing EMDR therapy, which can include becoming Certified, Consultants in Training, and Approved Consultants in EMDR. I also incorporate parts work/ego state therapy, including IFS (Internal Family Systems) and Structural Dissociation theory.
I am dedicated to helping clients heal from past wounds and overcome personal challenges, so they can live fulfilling lives. I offer Saturday appointments in addition to regular weekday office hours. I work with adults age 21 and older. A large part of my client base is other therapists.
